The Story of
Barrel 569
Our Second Ever maple campfire in a Bottle
This is only the second release to earn the Master Distiller’s Special Reserve designation. It is a title given to barrels that reveal something rare in both flavor and finish, a character that rises above expectation.
Barrel 569 began with our high-corn bourbon mash bill of 96 percent corn, 3 percent rye, and 1 percent malted barley, distilled by Master Distiller Arlon “AJ” Casey Jones on his handmade 120-gallon square pot still. From that run, AJ selected the heart of the distillation and filled a new 53-gallon white oak barrel with a number four char and medium toast. The spirit aged for one year and ten months, developing richness, body, and a hint of sweetness.
When the time was right, the whiskey was transferred to a second barrel, a used 25-gallon cask that had aged maple syrup for four years. The moment that barrel was opened, it was clear it carried something exceptional. Deep maple, dark sugar, and the memory of firewood and smoke lingered in the wood.
The smaller finishing barrel concentrated those notes, drawing the younger bourbon into a profile unlike anything else in our rickhouse. What emerged is a whiskey with bold character, smoky depth, and a finish reminiscent of campfire and charred sugar.
Barrel 569 is a one-of-a-kind release. Singular in yield, singular in flavor. Only a select few will ever get to taste it.
