The Story of
Barrel 606
Our best Honey finish to date
This is only the second barrel to earn the Master Distiller’s Special Reserve designation. It’s a title reserved for barrels that reach beyond expectation and deliver a finish worth remembering.
Our story begins with our heritage corn and cane Barrel Cut mash bill, distilled by Master Distiller Arlon “AJ” Casey Jones on his handmade 120-gallon square pot still. From that run, AJ set aside the very best and filled a new 53-gallon white oak barrel. There it rested for two full years.
While that spirit aged, a second barrel, number 209, had been sent to a local apiary after aging our high corn bourbon. That barrel was filled with honey and left to absorb the character of the whiskey. When it returned, the cask was bursting with the aroma of sweet honey and deep bourbon.
AJ had to act.
He filled it halfway with the maturing Barrel Cut and re-numbered it as Barrel 606. Over the next four years, it rested in our rickhouse, absorbing layer after layer of honeyed richness.
This fall, he sampled the barrel and knew the timing was perfect. What emerged was a spirit that balances our signature corn and cane sweetness with a honeysuckle floral character that’s unlike anything we’ve ever released.
